Some people spend a lifetime searching for the thing they were meant to create. For Christine Lahti, watercolor painting became that calling.
Born on the South Side of Chicago, Christine's life has taken her from the Midwest to Arkansas and eventually to the coastal beauty of Wilmington, North Carolina, where she now lives with her husband, Duane. Along the way, she raised three children, Ray, Holly, and Elizabeth, building a life centered on family, creativity, curiosity, and adventure.
Although she's always been artistic, Christine only began exploring watercolor seriously in recent years. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a true passion. Since then, she has dedicated herself to refining her craft through workshops, local classes, and countless hours with the brush, developing a style that captures both the beauty and personality of her subjects.
Today, Christine creates original watercolor paintings inspired by the natural world. Wildlife, birds, beloved pets, flowers, and quiet outdoor moments often find their way into her work, each painted with careful attention to color, expression, and detail. She also accepts commissioned pet portraits, creating meaningful keepsakes that celebrate the animals people love most.
Her artistic journey recently expanded into illustration when she completed artwork for a children's book, adding another exciting chapter to her growing portfolio.
Outside the studio, Christine draws inspiration from a life rich with experiences. She has traveled extensively, visiting destinations including India, France, Alaska, and many remarkable places throughout the United States and beyond. Those experiences continue to influence her appreciation for color, culture, wildlife, and the beauty found in everyday moments.
An avid nature lover, Christine enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. Her spiritual outlook and deep appreciation for the world around her naturally shape the warmth and optimism found throughout her artwork. She is equally passionate about music, with a particular love for jazz, while appreciating nearly every genre. Friends and family also know her for her impeccable sense of style and timeless eye for design.
Whether creating an original watercolor, painting a cherished family pet, or illustrating stories that inspire young readers, Christine approaches every piece with patience, heart, and genuine joy. Her hope is that each painting brings a sense of peace, wonder, and connection into the homes of those who collect her work.
Thank you for supporting independent art and following along on Christine's creative journey.
